Timothy Carr
Ceramicist and Educator
My work explores the tension between function and narrative, using wheel-thrown ceramic forms as vessels for humor, memory, and cultural reflection. Influenced by residencies in Jingdezhen, China and Seto, Japan, I blend traditional techniques with contemporary storytelling to create pieces that feel both familiar and strange. I’m drawn to the absurd and the playful—objects that invite interaction, provoke questions, and celebrate the everyday. Through teaching and making, I aim to foster curiosity, material fluency, and a sense of wonder.
